You've spotted a stray or lost animal and don't know what to do? The main thing is not to panic.
Step 1. Assess the situation
Is there a collar, a tag, signs the animal is a pet? Does it need urgent vet care? If the animal is frightened, don't approach abruptly.
Step 2. Check whether it's lost
Many "strays" are actually lost pets. Take a photo, post it in local "Lost & Found pets Volyn" groups, ask neighbours.
Step 3. Cover the basics
Water and a little food (not spoiled). If possible — a safe spot away from cold or heat.
Step 4. Reach out for help

Step 5. Consider sterilisation
If the animal stays on the street, sterilisation is the most humane way to stop uncontrolled breeding.
